CHRISTMAS TREES

CHRISTMAS TREES DELIVERED FREE

The Garden Gates having its roots as a landscape company, people would think of the winter as a slower time of year….

The idea of Christmas Trees Delivered Free program is to not only provide the New Orleans area with the highest quality trees avaliable, it is to keep the talented landscape employees busy.

Chad and Beth Harris figured out by delivering the trees we may even have to hire more people! Just another reason to shop at The Garden Gates.

Hey Lisa! It’s Claire, your favorite niece!

Cute story…

I was chillin’ at The Garden Gate taking pics of flowers & stuff , & Dad comes staggering in, lost, clutching a list in his hand.

I knew what Mom had put on that list–inside stuff. So I went to help him.

I took him room to room & he tripped out when he saw all the cool stuff we have at home that he’s been taking for granted.

So he got the list & I talked him into buying those pj’s I told you about–remember? And yeah, I’m totally snagging them after Mom wears em once.

I miss you, aunt Lisa! I love you! Come home soon! Bye.

I love summer until the reality of, ” what are my kids going to do for the next 3 months sobers me up.” I have a few suggestions about great kids activities that will make the stress on the pocket book not so harsh.

1. Read the your local paper to see what activities are going on in our neighborhood for little to no money each week. Many parents own small businesses and create activities to keep their own kids busy. At Garden Gate, we have a kids class once a month which was started because I needed something for my kids to do.

2. Plan bicycle rides to your local park and pack a lunch. Once you arrive at your destination, set up your picnic near a playground area and let them run wild. This will surely wear them out and make for a calm afternoon.

3. Plan a trip to the pool at least once a week with friends and school mates. This make it possible to trade off the trip with other parents to give you a break every once in a while.

4. Plan sleepovers for the kids and set up a tent in the backyard so they feel like they are camping out under the stars. This may not be Jellystone but it will make them feel like big kids.

5. Last but not least, keep the kids reading and working on school work during the summer to make sure they remember what they have learned all year. This will give them a jump start on the up coming school year and make the transition back to school much easier.

Hope this makes your life a little less stressful this summer season.

It’s official, the kids classes are ready to go. We have an big kick off with the Swing Class on March 3 and then the big  Easter Egg Hunt on April 7 at 10 am. The Easter Bunny will be arriving early to decorate and hide candy and eggs all over the garden center.  We will have refreshments for the everyone as well as treats to make your mouth water.  Make sure to call  the store and make your reservation for your children.  This helps with planning as we want to make sure theat we always have enough for everyone.
