Hey Lisa! It’s Claire, your favorite niece! Cute story… I was chillin’ at The Garden Gate taking pics of flowers & stuff , & Dad comes staggering in, lost, clutching a list in his hand. I knew what Mom had put on that list–inside stuff. So I went to help him. I took him room to room & he tripped out when he saw all the cool stuff we have at home that he’s been taking for granted. So he got the list & I talked him into buying those pj’s I told you about–remember? And yeah, I’m totally snagging them after Mom wears em once. I miss you, aunt Lisa! I love you! Come home soon! Bye. Making Essential Herb Scented Oils Over the years I have tried all kinds of stuff. Once, when I became mad with a vendor, I made bee bar lotion, soap and moisturizer. That’s right, Chad Harris 6′2″ 210 lbs of manhood, made cosmetic products one New Years. I was so determined to prove that company that any “2 Legged Monkey” could do it., I found great reward in filling my house full of lavender smells. My wife on the other hand, tells the story a bit different. I think her version is something like, ” This bozo made a bunch of crap and then ruined all my Tupperware containers with fragrances.” I have to be very careful with any idea of greatest in the house these days, because she always reminds me of the Tupperware. So without saying in my house, making essential oils is highly secretive and if my wife reads this, please send help. I was at the greenhouses today looking at the 10’s of 1000’s of herbs, succulents and annuals filling the benches and I started playing with making herb infused oils. So if you have a herb garden, get harvesting. You need a healthy supple of fresh herbs and if you must result to buying them, consider a farmers market rather than the grocery store. Follow the below directions: Avocado oil( for bathtubs) Olive Oil( for food) Fresh fragrant herbs Large jar (clean and hygienic containers are preferred) Clean working area that you can spill, clip and make a mess. Begin be cleaning all the herbs and removing any of the unsightly leaves or branches. Place the herbs into your jar, pack it as full as you can then add our oil. You will need to leave your herb/oil solutions for 3 days in the 1st phase. It is best if you keep it tightly sealed( clean mason jars work best) After 3 days, you are ready to open move to Phase 2, place cheese cloth or a really fine colander and drain off the oil into a new container. You will need to start the process all over again. This is a great time to add a second herb( combining herbs for multi layer fragrances ) fill a clean jar with a new herb or same herb as in phase 1, then pour your oil into the container and reseal, leave for 3 days. At this point you will need to decided if the oil is fragrant enough, if not repeat until you reach your desired pungency. Now pour your herb oil into a bottle of you choice and it is ready for use. Great combination of Herbs -Rosemary and Lemon Verbena -Lemon Grass and Lavender -Lemon Verbena and Mint Enjoy |
